Sony TC-161SD tape deck (1973)

50 anni fa la Philips presentava la sua prima Compact Cassette.

Qui un po' di storia della registrazione su nastro.

Kiss your hiss goodbye.
Along with your wows and flutters.
You know, those annoying little imperfections that make stereo listening something less than a total joy.
Well, Sony found a way to got rid of them.
With the TC-161SD tape deck.
First we gave it a closed-loop Dual Capstan tape drive for optimum tape tension and tape-to-head contact. Wows and flutters are reduced to an insignificant 0.1%.
Then we built in a high-performance Ferrite and Ferrite head that lasts up to 200 times longer than the ordinary permalloy variety. That’s crucial when you use high energy chromium dioxide cassettes.
Finally, we added an ingenious device developed by Dolby. He's the man who found a way to shush the high frequency hiss.
The result: clear, uncluttered sound. When the tape's over,  the Sony TC-161SD shuts itself off automatically. No fuss. No bother.
Of course, if you're not quite ready for this particular tape deck, Sony has a  whole collection of other great models.
Including the TC-134SD with ths Dolby noise reduction system.
You see, Sony believes that when you invest your hard-earned cash in a stereo tape deck, it shouldn’t hiss back at you.

Sì, quelle noiose piccole imperfezioni che rendono l'ascolto di uno stereo un po' meno di una gioia totale.
Be', Sony ha trovato un modo di eliminarle.
Con la piastra di registrazione TC-161SD.
Prima di tutto gli bbiamo dato un drive a doppio capstain ad anello chiuso, per avere tensione e contatto nastro-testina ottimali. Wow e flutter si riducono così a un insignificante 0,1%.
Poi abbiamo costruito una Ferrite ad alte prestazioni e una testina in Ferrite che dura sino a 200 volte più a lungo del normale tipo in permalloy. E questo è cruciale quando si usano cassette di biossido di cromo ad alta energia.
Da ultimo abbiamo aggiunto un ingegnoso dispositivo sviluppato da Dolby. È lui la persona che ha trovato il modo di far tacere il sibilo ad alta frequenza. 
Il risultato: un suono chiaro e pulito. Quando il nastro è finito, il Sony TC-161SD si spenge automaticamente. Senza problemi. Senza noie.
Naturalmente se non siete ancora pronti per questa particolare piastra di registrazione, Sony ha un'intera collezione di grandi modelli.
Incluso il TC-134SD con il sistema di riduzione di rumore Dolby.
Vedete, Sony pensa che quando si investono i sudati risparmi in una piastra di registrazione, questa non debba fischiarci dietro.
